History Behind Issue: Silver Surfer is back from Dynamo City and Thanos is back from taking all of the Infinity Gems in Thanos Quest #1 & 2.

Plot: The Silver Surfer convenes with Mentor & Eros at the insistence of Drax the Destroyer. Drax claims that Thanos has not died and is not buried in the coffin the Silver Surfer made for him previously. Eros confirms it is not Thanos, as this being had been augmented mechanically - something Thanos had no need of. The Silver Surfer quickly realizes he's been tricked to get him of Thanos' trail. Meanwhile, Thanos plays with his omnipotent powers a bit and then spies on the Silver Surfer group. He decides to punish the Silver Surfer and Drax and brings them to him leaving Mentor and Eros for later. Drax quickly tries to attack Thanos but is frozen in mid air. Thanos then shows the Silver Surfer his new found might by demonstrating the power of each gem individually. He then takes their souls into the soul gem leaving empty husks of bodies lying on the ground. In Hades, Mephisto observes the Titan coveting his power and vowing to get the infinity gems.

Continued in issue #45.

Comments: Pretty good art.  Much of the story is repeated from Thanos Quest #1&2 for those who may have missed it.
